Understand our goals and vision
Apprenticeship is a program in which workers train on-the-job – earning full-time wages and doing productive work – while also taking educational courses. When someone completes an apprenticeship, they’ll have valuable work experience and a recognized industry credential that allows them to continue in the field and advance their career over time.
Apprenticeships generally last from one to four years, as the apprentice advances through the program, his or her wages increase according to a predetermined schedule agreed to between the employer and the apprentice.
The apprenticeship can be hosted by an employer, also known as the "Sponsor". The sponsor may provide all elements of the program themselves (on-the-job training and related technical instruction), or they may partner with career schools, community colleges or other education providers to deliver a comprehensive, apprentice-focused experience.
Apprenticeship Connections is your bridge to the world of apprenticeship. Our goals are simple: we guide individuals who want a career in the trades, we support employers by helping them launch an apprenticeship program, and we are the glue that connects the apprentices and their sponsors.
The demand for skilled workers is growing, but the supply of skilled workers isn’t meeting that demand.
· Did you know that 70% of construction and manufacturing firms say they can’t find qualified workers?
· Did you know that the need for skilled workers is increasing faster than employment growth overall?
· Did you know that skilled labor in the U.S. isn’t expected to catch up to demand until 2050?
At Apprenticeship Connections, our mission is to build awareness of apprenticeship program benefits for both the employers and the skilled labor pool to help close some of these gaps. We are here to assist employers register to become sponsors, help individuals enroll in classes and make connections between the two to build strong workforces across New York as well as states across the entire country.
